Voting Rights

The College Democrats at Indiana University firmly support the expansion of voting rights and condemn any efforts to restrict suffrage. To that end, we will spend 2017 advocating for a polling place on Indiana University’s campus. This is essential for protecting and empowering student voices in our democracy. We also support Indiana Senate Bill 257, which—among other benefits—would allow voters to register on Election Day, create automatic voter registration when citizens apply for a driver’s license (with an opt-out option), and give counties the option to keep polls open until 8 p.m. instead of the usual 6 p.m.
